But in A Quiet Place, I thought Emily Blunt was fantastic as Evelyn. I am not much of a fan of John Krasinksi or Emily Blunt so I can’t say that they are the ones that attracted me to want to watch the film. I have to say, I really loved this movie.

In the end, Regan is the one who finds out how to save them and show she was not the vulnerable, weak one she thought she was… A crying baby, a deaf daughter that is vulnerable because she can’t hear when danger is approaching, and a water leak all put them at risk. This is to keep the baby’s cries from being heard from the outside.Įventually, the creatures converge back at the farmhouse, and the family fights for their lives.
The baby is born and kept inside a makeshift crib with a lid, forming an airtight seal the baby is fitted with an oxygen mask so it can breathe. Lee makes his son go create a distraction so the creatures are diverted from the house and away from Evelyn. This scene is memorable as she is alone in the house and obviously has no pain medication or anything to help her with her labor. Shortly after, Evelyn gives birth in the tub, while trying to be as silent as possible so as to not awaken the creatures. She believes her father doesn’t love her due to what happened, rejecting the hearing devices he makes her that keep failing, and she runs away. Throughout the film, the whole family feels guilty about what happened to Beau, but the most guilt is felt by Regan, who gave her brother the rocket toy. Lee fiddles with an earpiece for Regan, and Evelyn sets up what looks like a baby room. The farm is surrounded by cameras and lights, and we get a glimpse of a basement room with TVs, a radio, and newspaper clippings, and notes about the “creatures.” Lee, Evelyn, and their two remaining children, Regan and Marcus (Noah Jupe), are doing chores on a farm. Beau is gone, and we can see a heavily pregnant Evelyn (the mother, played by Emily Blunt).
